Engineered web for Australia’s energy regulator

Web design & build

The Brief:

Design and develop a new website and CMS, allowing the AEMC to effectively engage industry and consumer audiences and future-proof its digital platforms.

The Project:

AEMC needed to urgently overhaul its ageing technical infrastructure. We conducted a light Discovery phase to validate existing research and artefacts, synthesised all prior project documentation, produced 5 x website personas informed by analytics data, prototyped the IA in preparation for 2 x rounds of UX tests for validation. This allowed us to identify any gaps in the proposed IA, and collaborate with the client on an optimised solution. We also mapped the technical infrastructure and ran analysis on a backup of the website.

Our technical CMS solution was Drupal 8, which offered the most flexible, future-proof platform for the AEMC's ongoing complex content needs. We proceeded to run Agile sprints for design and development, validating with end users all the way through to launch.

The Result:

  • 50-75% optimisation of staff workflows
  • Over 50% reduction in CMS and hosting annual costs
  • 99.9% uptime on new AWS hosting
  • Responsive design, WCAG 2.0 AA compliant
  • Met Federal government hosting, security and penetration-testing requirements
