Insights Lead

Present Company is a brand, experience design and customer engagement business. We build new businesses, products, brands and experiences through deep understanding of customers and culture.

We believe understanding your customer is a crucial component in prioritising business decisions. The Insights Lead will design and deliver research and insights in both project and retained jobs. You’ll work with the team to unpack briefs, challenge assumptions, find the opportunity for unforeseen value, design the research required to unlock that value and build defensible recommendations.

We work as agency, advisory, business designers and on our own ventures. Our work isn’t linear so we prioritise lots of questions, plenty of support, and to be brave and clever.

Responsibilities

  • Champion the value of strategic insights, internally and externally
  • Design the work required to find insights into problems big and small
  • Represent the customer above all else
  • An ability to decipher raw data
  • Target experience and future state design
  • Engage with all our teams and build their capability to use insights
  • Engage directly with senior stakeholders
  • Being and staying connected to culture

Qualifications

  • Qualifications in arts, anthropology, media or editorial are interesting but not mandatory
  • 5+ years experience in agency, consulting or media

We have key internal and external audiences for our work.

Internal - Strategy, including customer understanding and experience, is delivered into our creative, content, social, media and web development teams. Our work is always structured and socialised with our colleagues in a way that allows genuine translation of the information, not just handover of accountability. We care for and nurture the future life of our work, and our teams.

External - Present Company’s strategy team is highly regarded in market and typically engaged by C-suite and senior executives. Our team is comfortable in developing and confidently presenting work that is valued at the business level, and can be translated through a business into executional and operational directives. Our team has the adaptability to communicate our work through all levels of the business.

The role, generally

Everyone on the Present Company strategy team tends to be a t-shaped individual. We structure our capability along the project line, meaning you will always have expertise to call upon across disciplines and project phases.

This a senior position. The Insights Lead will work closely with their fellow Strategists to design and deliver research and insights in both project and retained jobs. This will require you to work with the team to unpack briefs, challenge assumptions, find the opportunity for unforeseen value, design the research required to unlock that value and carry it out, synthesise the data and communicate the insights, and build defensible recommendations. We don’t do rote and we don’t do toolkit: we trust our team to develop bespoke methodologies according to the business need - we love people who can arrange, develop and iterate IP to best address a problem, and you’ll have the freedom to do that autonomously.

You’ll report into the Head of Strategy with a dotted line to the Managing Director.

The vibe, generally

We work as an agency, but aren’t just an agency. We consult, but we’re not a consultancy. We build our own products and businesses, but we’re not a typical incubator. Everyone works with a high degree of autonomy and we strain to keep the hierarchy as flat as possible. The business model for our type of business hasn’t been solved, so we operate on lots of questions, to expect and provide plenty of support, and to be brave and clever. The strategy team is fast paced; we create calm in chaos.
